The name Two Back Flats is a dedication to my husband and now more so than when it began. It started on our dining room table in February 2010 as I tried to create the perfect accessory for my Aunt Gloria's 50th Birthday Smash! A trip to Joanne Fabrics, many wizardly mechanical ideas from my wizard husband and my first ever mini top hat was made!
With immeasurable amounts of support from my family and friends. Namely, my dear friend and talented photographer, Leah Miller, I opened Two Back Flats on Etsy on March 24th 2010! The goal was to apply to a local Baltimore art show. The day I received my "We're sorry, we're full" letter, was the day I made my first sale on Etsy!
My hats! Oh, my little hats. They have grown leaps and bounds! I have worked with hundreds of brides, burlesque performers, photographers, clothing designers, Birthday girls and boys, Moms, Sisters, Daughters, Husbands, Maid of Honors and everyone in between.
With a competitive market place like Etsy, I owe my successes to my customers. With their faith in purchasing from someone with little experience to the humbling thank you's and reviews. Every gesture of confidence that was given to me and every kind word has made me work harder than ever. Not one hat has come out of my studio that I have not loved completely.
I am so proud of where Two Back Flats has come in such a short amount of time. This year - I am delving into a whole new world with Haute Couture hats focusing on recycled and vintage materials.
