Garden Party Top Hat - Ob La Di

Hello loves! Remember this sunny, bright, colorful top hat? Yea - me too. I won't sell it ;) Well with so much interest and a dwindling supply of foam flowers, I have created a twin for her for sale in my Etsy shop.

This version is a little more dressed up using red, yellow, hot pink and purple silk flowers. Instead of the yellow bandana, The Ob La Di is sporting a navy blue satin sash and bow. Making this hat perfect for any tea party, garden party, or Alice inspired frolic.

The contrast of the pop of colors with the classic navy blue stripe makes me want to be on a boat. A really really fun boat.

Oh the Madness!

Just when you thought you were the maddest, the owner of this mini top hat will come along and do something like serve you coffee instead of tea. Shannon was incredible to work with. "If you're gonna go Mad Hatter, go Mad Hatter, right?" Music to my ears....

Created from scratch using gorgeous hot pink and turquoise satins. Trimmed OUT in antique gold and amber trims, colorful foam and paper flowers, peekaboo gold damask fabrics, a pocket full of curled peacock feathers! Oh my!

Every single Mad Hatter tag is hand drawn and crafted with ridiculous amounts of awesome detailing..

I picked this vintage pin up from a Flea in Fells Point last summer. Im not entirely sure when it is from but it screams 50's to me with the painted metals and rhinestone bird eyes. Ooooo. I have been saving it until I found its perfect fit and Shannon was the one!!

As always... to have your own custom mad hatter hat made - message me in my Etsy shop

Have a Mad Monday in the best of ways!

Jas

Mini Top Hat - A Midsummer Night's Dream

I, for one, I am dreaming of summer festivals, backyard lanterns and bare feet. I am so glad C came along with her gorgeous wedding details in Persian purple and monochromatic blues. Mosses, branches, whimsical bow ties for the boys and, of course, tea pots! (A girl after my own heart!)

I am fairly certain that every mother secretly wants to see her daughter in a veil. I wore two veils as I walked down the aisle to appease everyone. True story. To me: this french net is the perfect compromise. It is tucked within the flowers to give it natural, full look then cascades along the side and bottom of the brim to give the illusion and certainly the feel of wearing a bird cage veil. (I tried this on and gasped. I am now planning my 678th wedding..)

I created a ruffle from both dupioni silks to keep with the elegant feel C is going for. It also acts as a little flower cone for the spray of purple flowers. Details! Details!

It shouldn't be a hard transition today to work on Faerie hats for the festival!

Mini Top Hats for Tea Party Goers

I had to share one of the custom mini top hats I shipped this week. When I ask people what their inspiration is, I love seeing photos of lavish tea parties and bouquets of peonies. But one special lady simply responded "Thunderstorms. Blue and Yellow". What a smashing concept. The outcome was a delight. I love this hat so much, I had trouble shipping it!

Created from scratch using my favorite* blue/gray dupioni silk. I tried to convey the rolling of thunder with the dramatic cascade of pale yellows. Bolts of striking yellow flowers and pops of dusty blue buds. The droopy yellow and blue stems in the back are breathlessly romantic. There are subtle rhinestones and pearls hidden within for even more depth.

Once the photos were taken, it reminded me so much of "The Garden of Earthly Delights" by Hieronymus Bosch. A little dark and a lot of fantasy.

I am thrilled to say this is now for sale in my shop for tea party goers, throwers, lovers of gardens, thunderstorms or anything delightful!

I have to thank my customers once again for for inspiring me every single day!
