Royal Ascot Hat

I had the honor of being commissioned for a hat for a very fabulous lady invited to Royal Ascot.
What do we think? Belle of the Ball?

She wanted to sport one of my Mad Hatter hats for a touch of whimsy. Can we blame her? ;)

Two patterned vintage fabrics in cream and ivory with touches of champagne satin.
Trimmed with pale pink and ivory feathers and a vintage flower brooch.

I'm in love with that pop of green on the stem.

I blew this one a kiss as it headed out the door.
Cheers! Happy Wednesday! Happy Ascot Day!

Bridal Party Hats

I was so inspired to make hats for Michelle and her bridal party. M and her hubby to be are having a bright, funky wedding this May in Tanzania!!

The inspiration photos for Michelle's hat! Love this teal bridesmaids dress! Love teal. Period. I bet it will be super comfortable to twirl in that! I considered doing the hats in teal, but with all these amazing flowers, you have to go with the color of SUNSHINE.

The bride's beautiful hat in white damask, ostrich feathers and a bouquet of matching fuchsia flowers. Michelle will also be wearing a Two Back Flats birdcage veil. Cannnnot wait for photos!!!

Michelle wanted the hats to mimic her awesome clashing bouquets. The flowers are meant to represent tropical Tanzania as well as the bride and groom's hometowns UK and Ireland!

I think it was a SWELL idea. I could not stop staring at these hats once they were complete. Pretty sure we pulled off a funky English vibe.

And of course, they are customized even further with the hand drawn and crafted Mad Hatter tags featuring their wedding date. Adorable.

Love and light to Michelle and her fiance! We are so excited for you!

Alice in Wonderland in Black and White....and RED!

I've said it before and I'll say it again: My customers blow my mind. How each of you take such a classic theme like Alice in Wonderland and make it so unique, so original and so you. I loved every single one of these bridal party hats individually but as a whole - they are Show Stoppers.

How ridiculously cute are these matching bride and flower girl hats? A petite white rabbit hat with a clock!

I remember Ashton saying to me "I love all of your Alice in Wonderland photos but just you wait..." Well, I can NOT wait to see what else she has in store for the wedding that is just weeks away! Congrats congrats congrats to you!

Lots of love

Wedding Inspiration: Mad Hatter Chic

I was so excited and to be honest, a little nervous for Nicole's red, orange and green inspiration photos. Being a pink and purple gal myself, I knew something magical would come of pushing my color envelope. I found the PERFECT vintage mushroom pin from BlendedSplendid on Etsy. (Seriously - if you love anything retro, kitschy or fantastically odd - you will find something you want in her shop!)
I was giddy. GIDDY about the finished product. I can just see Nicole's entire ensemble now!

There's nothing like a June bride...

Hats off to Nicole! Wishing you the wedding of your dreams!
Happy Monday everyone!

Oh the Madness!

Just when you thought you were the maddest, the owner of this mini top hat will come along and do something like serve you coffee instead of tea. Shannon was incredible to work with. "If you're gonna go Mad Hatter, go Mad Hatter, right?" Music to my ears....

Created from scratch using gorgeous hot pink and turquoise satins. Trimmed OUT in antique gold and amber trims, colorful foam and paper flowers, peekaboo gold damask fabrics, a pocket full of curled peacock feathers! Oh my!

Every single Mad Hatter tag is hand drawn and crafted with ridiculous amounts of awesome detailing..

I picked this vintage pin up from a Flea in Fells Point last summer. Im not entirely sure when it is from but it screams 50's to me with the painted metals and rhinestone bird eyes. Ooooo. I have been saving it until I found its perfect fit and Shannon was the one!!

As always... to have your own custom mad hatter hat made - message me in my Etsy shop

Have a Mad Monday in the best of ways!
Love,
Jas
