Royal Ascot Hat

I had the honor of being commissioned for a hat for a very fabulous lady invited to Royal Ascot.
What do we think? Belle of the Ball?

She wanted to sport one of my Mad Hatter hats for a touch of whimsy. Can we blame her? ;)

Two patterned vintage fabrics in cream and ivory with touches of champagne satin.
Trimmed with pale pink and ivory feathers and a vintage flower brooch.

I'm in love with that pop of green on the stem.

I blew this one a kiss as it headed out the door.
Cheers! Happy Wednesday! Happy Ascot Day!

Bridal Carnival Mad Hatter Top Hat

Weddings. I love em all. Brides. Love them too. They're all wacked out on pretty things 24-7. I can relate. But once in a while a a bride comes along that blows even my mind away.

Firstly, when a bride says she's making her own wedding dress I, basically, buckle my seatbelt. This girl is cool. She's cooler than me. L created a dress somewhere between these two dresses. Lace sleeves, full skirt, le sigh*

Then comes a pinteresting message chock full of vintage carnival / circus inspiration! I die! Bowls of carnival tickets, photo booths, chalkboards!

Oh and btw she says! These are the SPIKED HEELS I'll be wearing with my wedding dress. I danced. In place. I did a real dance. I had JUST found these teeny tiny spikes and was so excited to use them on  a hat. What better hat than this one!!!?

I had also recently purchased these A-MAZING vintage carnival tickets from Modern Poetry on Etsy. I was clearly meant to make this hat!

Tiny spikes!!

L's wedding date is October 6th!! Hello Mad Hatter tag! I assure you...it does not stop there. This hat is so full of hidden treasures that it is a FEAST for your eyes from every angle.

Monochromatic pink stripes, ivory satin, a modern orange calico fabric. Orchids! Lilies! Popcorn! You name it. This hat IS a carnival!

So much love to Leesie on her wedding week! Thanks for being such an inspiration and trusting me with your headpiece! Hope you love it as much as I do!

Mini Minnie Mouse Bowler Hat

Got a message from the sweetest hubby ever stating that his wife has just a wee obsession with Minnie Mouse. Namely, her yellow bowler hat with the lovely daisy. He just had to have one made for her. This guy is winning.

When I created the petite hat, we immediately knew we needed one larger. It's always fun to have a little more room to play, but that tiny tiny hat is cuter than a button.

I wish wish wish I had a chance to take a photo wearing these. I assure you they are even more awesome on...

Happy Neptunian New Year!

On July 12, 2011, after 145 years, the planet Neptune will have finally completed its first lap around the sun since its discovery in 1846.

And lucky for me, because of my a.w.e.s.o.m.e. customers - there is a hat for every occasion:

Neptune's "Rings" were made from guitar strings. Because on this little corner of the Earth - that's how we roll.

Seriously Swank Bridal Party Hats

Oh the girly-ness of it all! I may crash this pink and green bridal shower. And might I say that this is how you treat your best girls...

All hats were handmade from scratch using gorgeous monochromatic shades of pink and green. From lime green and hot pink to chartreuse and mauve. Decked out with black rhinestone trim, matching vintage rhinestone buttons and sleek black and green feathers.

For the bride and maid of honor, I wanted to keep with the same fun but elegant tone. A polka dotted bow, black and white ostrich feathers and a budding pink peony to tie it all together!

This brought to you from my back yard. Could it be any more amazing out today?
Love. Love. Love.
