Wedding Top Hat and Detachable Hair Clip

Versatility at its finest!! I did a detachable hair clip once before a long time ago but I was so stoked to do it again for this gorgeous, brilliant bride!

An ivory damask mini top hat with ivory satin ribbon and bow.

The lovely bride wanted deep red flowers that she could wear on her hat or separately in her hair for the wedding day...or any other day!!! I chose to hand make the red flowers with shades of red silks and satins. May make this red clip available in my shop! It is even more stunning in person.

And all together now!!!! Oh the beauty. Oh the drama!!! This hat actually also has a detachable birdcage veil that I cannot believe I forgot to photograph. So its really FOUR in one!
Can't stop. Wont stop.

FEATURED ON THE WEDDING CHICKS!!!

When I was engaged in 2009 The Wedding Chicks had just busted out of the gates with their DIY wedding blog and needless to say - I was ALL over it. Here we are a measly 3 years later and my work is featured there?!?! This is so awesome I hadnt even dreamt it!! Thank you thank you thank you!

Headpiece Inspiration:

Invitation By Shel Silverstein in The Sidewalk Ends
If you are a dreamer, come in.
If you are a dreamer, a wisher, a liar,
A hope-er, a pray-er, a magic bean buyer . . .
If you’re a pretender,
come sit by my fire,
For we have some flax golden tales to spin.
Come in!
Come in!

I love this color palette. Top hat was handmade using a grey silk dupioni, dusty pink satin and tulle. I love gold on anything! Vintage gold leaf found at a flea market in Vermont! The gold/brown goose feather makes it so subtly earthy.

Could cry over this bouquet by Anthomanic
You may recognize the birdcage veil piece from the Cherry Blossom Collection. This thing seriously looks a-mazing on everyone!!

This hat looks good at every angle. Mission accomplished.

Pirate Wedding Tricorn Hat

I have been dying to make more mini tricorn hats, so I am so glad Lindsey came along with her Pirate themed wedding that is going be during the Portland Pirate Festival. How awesome is that?!

I like every one of my hats to have a little story and this one is chock full of goodness. It was handmade from scratch using an upcycled cream and ivory striped fabric that used to be my mom's stunning drapes.

Vintage button collected from a thrift in Delaware.

All the lace trims are vintage and steamed. They were found at a fabulous flea market in Vermont. They have seen the freshest of air and the breathtaking Berkshire mountains. What a trip.

And where would any of us be without a fluffy natural white ostrich plume?

I love this hat so much, it is officially listed in my Etsy Shop. Click THIS for the listing.
Congrats to you Lindsey!
Happy day friends.

Hot Pink and Black Mad Hatter Wedding

Oooo la la. Is there anything more classic AND more modern than a hot pink and black New Orleans Mad Hatter wedding? I think not.

I can't wait to see photos of this bridal party decked out in there matching Mad Hatter hats.

Handmade from scratch using black and hot pink satins. Hand crafted 10/6 tags and embellished with rhinestone trim.

Our gorgeous bride will be wearing a white mini top hat with thick black ribbon and detachable birdcage veil.

And of course two little wee reverse hot pink hats for the flower girls. This is going to be an awesome wedding.

Woodland Wonderland

I am so inspired by this woodsy, Autumn color palette for an Alice in Wonderland wedding.

Burnt Orange, Purple Plum, Coffee/Toffee, Antique Gold & Cream
(and some lace to top it off)

Remember this vintage cameo earring?? Perfect fit. There is one of the pair left!

Burnt orange, gold and ivory flower girl hats. De-light-ful.

So Victorian and romantic....sigh*

Colorful Bridal Tea Hats of the Mini kind...

Hot Pink, turquoise, lime green, purple, yellow - OH MY!!! Really, there is nothing I can say about these bright, tiny top hats except - I've always wanted to live in a candy shop and for a couple weeks - I DID!

Bye bye - Foam Flowers. These went FAST and I wont lie, I am sort of sad about it.

As always, for your own custom bridal, birthday, tea, garden or just for fun party hats - message me with details in my Etsy Shop!
